Ingredients

METHOD:

  1. Wash the Mahua: Rinse the Mahua flowers thoroughly and drain well.
  2. Steam until soft: Steam the flowers until they are soft and cooked through.
    Grind to a paste: Grind the steamed flowers on a stone or in a grinder to form a coarse paste.
  3. Add jaggery and flour: Transfer the paste to a bowl. Mix in jaggery and wheat flour.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead into a smooth, soft dough. Add a little more flour if needed to bind.
  5. Shape the vatte: Roll the dough into small, even balls.
  6. Steam again: Steam the shaped balls until they hold their form and are cooked through.
  7. Shallow fry: Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the steamed balls until golden brown on all sides.
  8. Serve warm: Enjoy fresh and warm.
