To be market leaders and pioneers in food-grade Mahua, doubling the income of our partner communities while conserving the ecosystems we operate in.
In Central India, the Mahua tree has been revered as a "wish-granting tree"(Kalpavriksha).
Its flower, fruits, seeds and even its bark have been used by indigenous communities for food, fodder, medicine and drink and represent ancient traditions and folklore.
In the late 19th century, the British banned the production, collection and storage of Mahua flowers under the Bombay Abkari Act, 1878 and Mhowra Act, 1892.
This stifled centuries-old traditions and left Mahua’s true potential unexplored.
We believe Mahua flowers hold a trove of culinary possibilities, waiting to be explored.
We see the versatile flower as a delicious and healthy ingredient, ready for innovative food applications!
We partnered with 40 households in Ranchi district and provided sustainable harvesting kits, training, and support to implement ethical harvesting systems. We collected Jharkhand’s first batch of food-grade Mahua.
In 2024, we collected four tonnes of dried Mahua flowers using sustainable methods.
We have been able to eliminate unsustainable practices and thus prevent six acres of forest fires in the region.
Our innovative net system saved the community 5,400 work hours an increased production by one tonne, that would have been wasted under traditional methods.
To unleash Mahua’s true potential as a superfood and versatile food ingredient on a global scale, promoting sustainable practices and empowering local communities.
